CHICO'S SNEAK PEAK FASHION SHOWSaturday morning, August 28th, some of our members headed to the Contra Costa Chapter fashion show. We left before
breakfast, but Starbucks called to us and we picked up a jump start before heading towards the Bay Area.
Upon
arrival, we were greeted by many of our NAIW friends. The brunch was delicious which included crab eggs
benedict. I'm not going to list the awesome array of foods, but it was a great assortment.
Shopping
was an important part of this event. There were several vendors with a variety of items available. We tried on
Jewelry, tasted chocolate & mustards, reviewed the latest pampered chef line, learned how to lose 3 sizes in 10 days,
and checked out some great products from the Purse Lady. Some of us were lucky enough to come home with great raffle
prizes.
The models were from the Contra Costa Chapter. They did an outstanding job walking
the runway. Chico's presented a variety of sophisticated styles, and the ooohs & ahhs made it an exciting
event.
The best part of participating in this type of event is catching up with friends that make
NAIW so special. I am glad that I belong to such a great organization.

CWC SPEAK-OFF Our August General Meeting program, was the Confidence While Communicating
Speak-off. Shirley Leone & Esmeralda Mendez agreed to competed for the honor of representing IWOF at the California
Council Meeting in Torrance, CA, Sept 24 & 25. Both ladies prepared great speeches and made the decision, for the
judges, a tough one.
I am pleased to announce that Shirley is our 2010 California Council CWC Contestant.
Shirley presented a dynamic speech. Congratulations to Shirley for a job well-done. Be sure to extend
congratulations to Shirley, the next time you see her.
The speak-off is a gentle reminder that stepping out of
our comfort zone is good practice and stretches us to improve our communication skills. Esmeralda shared some great
tips on how to present yourself when networking. As she put it, "Be Yourself!"
